A man who escaped from Stevenson Correctional Institution in Columbia, S.C. was captured several hours later in a car with family members.
Larry Myers, 21, was found about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday by officers from the Corrections Department and the State Law Enforcement Division, said Robert Ward, Corrections Department director of operations.
A relative had tipped off corrections department officials on where to find Myers, Ward said.
Myers' family had talked to him about surrendering, Ward said.
Myers was serving a four-year sentence for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is now being held at the maximum security Broad River Correctional Institution.
