| PREA Commission meets again |

AUSTIN, TX - Protecting prisoners from sexually violent acts while incarcerated was a key issue at public hearings for the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission Monday. The commission panel, which was created out of the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003, will develop recommended standards to decrease the prevalence of sexual assault in lockups, small and large jails, state and federal prisons, juvenile facilities, and immigration detention facilities, said Mark Glaze, a spokesman for the commission.
