An inmate who escaped from an Arizona federal prison was recaptured Friday after spending about 12 hours on the run, officials said.
David Alan Jones, who is serving a 20-year sentence for bank robbery and use of a firearm, turned up missing Thursday during a 4 p.m. inmate count at the Federal Correctional Institution. He was found in the Safford area about 3 a.m. Friday.
A federal Bureau of Prisons release said the escape is under investigation. No other information was immediately released.
The Bureau of Prisons Web site lists the Safford prison as a low security facility.
