KALAMAZOO, MI - A federal judge has ordered the Michigan Corrections Department to install cooling equipment in some Jackson-area prisons by mid-summer to keep temperatures below dangerous levels. In an opinion issued Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Richard Enslen gave the state 45 days to come up with a plan to keep temperatures within safe limits for medically fragile inmates.
