Better benefits for kin of workers

NEW YORK, NY - The families of city Sanitation and Corrections workers killed in the line of duty are poised to receive extended health coverage without the bureaucratic headache of getting their individual cases approved by the City Council and the mayor.

The policy change to automatically grant extended benefits to the families was overwhelmingly passed through the City Council yesterday, and must now be signed into law by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Read more.
