HAMILTON COUNTY, OH - Hamilton County Commissioners Todd Portune and David Pepper today proposed a $700 million sales-tax increase to finance new jail construction and criminal-justice reforms. The Democratic commissioners proposed a half-cent increase in the county sales tax for eight years, followed by a seven-year increase of a quarter cent. They delayed a decision on whether to place the proposal on a special-election ballot in August or on the regular ballot this November. Read more.
