OLYMPIA, WA - Stalking Department of Corrections and other correctional agency workers will be a felony under a bill signed by Gov. Chris Gregoire. Stalking is a misdemeanor in Washington, but stalking certain people, such as police, can be a felony. House Bill 1319, which Gregoire signed Friday, adds correctional workers to that list of people whose profession is considered an aggravating factor in stalking. The bill was based on the case of a worker who was stalked by a juvenile she once supervised, a legislative report says. |
