| Walton County jail opens |

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL - The new Walton County Jail is now in full operation with the transfer of 209 inmates and detainees last Saturday morning. Five busloads of prisoners made the trip uneventfully from the old jail behind the county courthouse in DeFuniak Springs to the new facility four miles north of town. Corrections Director Danny Glidewell stated, "All the corrections officers and staff performed exceptionally. With their diligence and hard work, the move was as smooth as possible." Read more.
