OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - New jails are being built or have recently been completed in eight Oklahoma counties as local officials try to relieve crowding at existing lockups. “There's a lot of action,” said Don Garrison, who's been the jail inspector for the state Health Department for 10 years. “They were built in the early '30s or maybe before. All of them are overcrowded. They didn't build them big enough back then, and they are probably not going to build them big enough ... if crime keeps going the way it is.”Read more.
