WICHITA, KA - Cities in Sedgwick County will be charged a fee to house their prisoners in the county jail. In a close vote, commissioners made the decision Wednesday morning. The issue came up last month amid concerns that prisoners are staying a long time in the jail just waiting for trial. That causes over crowding and drives up the costs for the county. Read more.
