| Hoeven signs big budget increase |

BISMARCK, ND - Governor Hoeven signed a big budget increase for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the State Penitentiary in Bismarck. The bill provides $130 million and will allow for 10 new correctional officers and prison staff, as well as 10 new parole officers. The legislation will also pay for special cells where the most dangerous prisoners are housed. Corrections Director Leann Bertsch says it`s a very good budget bill, and the Department is committed to meeting critical needs at the state pen. Read more.
