Pittsgrove CO critical after crash

CARNEYS POINT TWP., NJ - A Salem City police officer authorities said was driving drunk flipped her vehicle here early Thursday morning, critically injuring one of the three passengers riding with her.

According to officials, Salem Patrolwoman Dawn Chomo, 35, of Penns Grove, was traveling northbound on Pennsville-Auburn Road in the area of Quilleytown Road at 2:21 a.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve, flipping her 2006 Suzuki XL Wagon into a field and ejecting one passenger.

County Corrections Officer Ida Stewart, 27, of Pittsgrove, was airlifted from the scene to Cooper Medical Center, Camden, where she was listed in critical condition with a broken neck, fractured ribs and leg injuries, said Carneys Point Police Chief Edmund Spinelli Jr. Read more.
