Three hundred inmates await trial

ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA - Three hundred and three of the 325 inmates at Nsukka prison in Enugu State are awaiting trial.

The Prison Comptroller, Mr Muhammed Idris told newsmen in Enugu Friday that the congestion being witnessed at the prison was caused by the high number of inmates awaiting trial.

He said majority of the inmates were juveniles, and noted that the prison environment could not serve as a good rehabilitation centre for them. Read more.
