PESHTIGO, WI — A Peshtigo woman is among the first winners of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections' Salute Award program, a new initiative recognizing and honoring the work of DOC employees. Joni Groll, probation and parole agent for Unit 616 of Peshtigo, won the awareness award. Groll coordinates the program "Every 15 Minutes" to educate high school students in Oconto County about the dangers of drinking and driving. The two-day program includes a staged drunk driving accident outside of the school, with a full police, fire and emergency medical response to student participants. Groll also participates annually in National Night Out, which is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. |
