NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV - Of the 368 new inmates who checked into the crowded Northern Nevada Correctional Center in the past six weeks, 294 were methamphetamine addicts and half admitted they were high when they committed their crimes. At the same time, officials at the bursting-at-the-seams Southern Desert Correctional Center had to set up regular inmate beds in their drug treatment center to deal with the explosion in their general inmate population.
