TRENTON, NJ - Deputy Keeper James B. Lippincott had grabbed an iron bar and drawn his revolver while responding to the prison break, but he didn't expect the inmate to way lay him in the corridor. The convict, who escaped by cutting the bars of his Trenton State Prison cell using a saw fashioned from watch and clock springs, pointed the gun he took off another keeper and fired multiple times, striking Lippincott.
