BOSTON, MA - Former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci arrives at a Boston halfway house after being released from federal prison. Cianci was wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap as he went hrough a back door of Coolidge House. He arrived in an SUV at about 9:30 am with his daughter, Nicole. Cianci was released from federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey, at about 3 am. He's been at the prison since 2002 -- after he was convicted of racketeering conspiracy for overseeing rampant corruption at City Hall. Cianci is scheduled to be in federal custody through July 28th, but could be released from the halfway house to home confinement before then. While he's in Boston, he'll be working at 15 Beacon, a luxury hotel. |
