| Officials favor prison, jail shutdown |

CAMDEN, NJ - Elected officials and city civic leaders gathered with young children from a North Camden day care center Wednesday to declare that the future of Camden's Waterfront and downtown won't include prisons and jails. Using Riverfront State Prison as a backdrop for the announcement, county Freeholder-Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said Gov. Jon S. Corzine is committed to eliminating the prison from the city. Likewise, the freeholder board is determined to move the Camden County Jail out of Camden and has started the relocation process, he said. Read more.
