| Commissioner recovers from shoulder surgery |

CHARLESTON, WV - Years of lifting weights finally took a toll on Corrections Commissioner Jim Rubenstein. For the second time, he has undergone surgery to repair a shoulder, this time the left one, where a surgeon inserted a rod and titanium cap, and cleaned out some built-up arthritis. “It’s a slow process,” the commissioner said from his Grafton home. “I know it’s normal to have some pain. But I’ve weaned myself off pain pills. I felt pretty good early on. Rubenstein said he was bitten by the fitness bug when he turned 40, and for the past 15 years or so has been lifting weights to stay in shape. Read more.
