| Board of corrections model explored |

DAKOTA CITY, IA - The Dakota County Commission will consider on Friday whether to adopt a County Board of Corrections model of running the jail or to leave it in the hands of the Sheriff's Office. The Board of Corrections would consist of the five county commissioners, who would hire and have direct oversight of a certified jail administrator. Currently, the sheriff's chief deputy, Rod Herron, is responsible for running the jail. The commissioners would be required under the proposed statute to convene as the Board of Corrections at least every 60 days.
