AG files charges for gun pointing

NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS - The Attorney General's Office has filed charges against a Corrections officer who pulled a gun on a taxi driver at the officer's house in As Teo.

The AGO charged 30-year-old Jesse R. Babauta with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Chief prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr. stated in the information that on June 9, 2007, Babauta pointed a .223 rifle at Sean Castro, a taxi operator with Tropical Island Transportation Services, who had dropped off Barbie Ann Borja at the defendant's residence. Warfield said Babauta also struck Castro on the head. Read more.
