AUCKLAND, AUSTRALIA - The Corrections Department has applied to the Auckland City Council for permission to redevelop the prison. An eight-storey block and another four-storey structure are planned to house up to 450 inmates, along with a new secure gatehouse entrance. The current block will be renovated and used for administration. Corrections national property manager William Whewell says the cost of the project will be decided once the planning is complete.
