Two convicts on a work release program in Howard County (Mo.) walked away from their work site just after noon Thursday. The two men, Kurt Henderson and Jessy Salamone, had been in state custody since August, serving five-year sentences for second-degree robbery from Saline County. They were working about eight miles north of Boonville. Henderson, 22, is 6-foot, 175 pounds, with white skin, brown hair and hazel eyes. Salamone, 23, is 5-foot-11, 145 pounds, with white skin, blond hair and blue eyes. They were wearing gray Department of Corrections uniforms and possibly brown duck coats. The Boonville Correctional Center activated its emergency squad, and a canine search team from Jefferson City was also participating in the search, along with local law enforcement and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Armed guards have been posted at the bridge between Howard and Cooper County in Boonville. The Department of Corrections urged the public not to confront the two men. Anyone who believes they have seen the escaped convicts should call law enforcement, the Highway Patrol or the Department of Corrections. |
