| State youth prisons still in crisis |

COLUMBUS, OH - A crisis atmosphere continues to exist at a state girls prison where a dozen [officers] were indicted in 2005 on charges of sexual assault and inmate abuse, and boys at a second prison remain at risk of excessive force, abuse and trauma, a federal investigation concluded. Justice Department investigators are encouraged, however, by progress the Ohio Department of Youth Services has made to improve conditions at Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility in Delaware and Marion Juvenile Correctional Facility in Marion, according to a pair of May letters to Gov.
