| Killer tries to refuse van transport |

George Charlie Baker, 25, pleaded guilty to murdering 17-year-old Liam in the back of a Chubb prison van in August last year as it was being driven from North Shore District Court to Mt Eden Prison. He was sentenced in December to life in prison, with a minimum 18-year parole period. Baker appealed against the conviction and sentence and was due to appear in the Court of Appeal at Auckland at 10am yesterday but his case had to be put off till the afternoon because of "transport issues".
