| TYC leaders reassure employees |

MART, TX - Texas Youth Commission executives visited Waco on Thursday morning as part of a six-stop state tour to meet with employees, giving them a “state-of-the-agency” report and working to calm fears of coming change. Foremost on the minds of officials and employees during the meeting: Impending closure of TYC facilities in Marlin and San Saba and conversion of one of two units in Mart into a statewide intake unit for boys. Lawmakers decided to transfer the Marlin and San Saba units back to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, which originally operated the facilities more than a decade ago as adult corrections facilities.
