| Sheriff's candidates agree on the needs |

LYMAN, MS - Candidates for Harrison County sheriff on Thursday told business leaders how they plan to avoid inmate deaths at the jail and whether they intend to attend meetings of the Board of Supervisors. Nine of the 10 candidates participated in the forum sponsored by the Orange Grove-Lyman Chamber of Commerce, giving one-minute responses to a series of questions. All the candidates agreed on the need to alleviate jail overcrowding - the "hows" varied - and to improve training, especially for jailers. All but one candidate pledged to attend supervisors meetings. And all but one said they had a plan to make changes at the jail. Read more.
