CHARLESTON, WV - West Virginians have a pretty good system to help defray the cost of running the judiciary. People who break the law pay some of the court costs. But "court costs" is really an inaccurate description of what minor offenders pay. More than half the $160.50 charge for "court costs" is roughly split between the county's per diem regional jail fee and the Regional Jail Authority.
