DELTA TOWNSHIP, MI — Workers have broken ground to expand the Eaton County jail, adding 142 new beds to the current 224. The expansion was made possible by a 2006 millage renewal that extends through 2027. "We've been in this facility for 17 years," said Capt. Don Ulrey, jail administrator. "We've outgrown it." Maximum security male prisoners will be housed in the center of the jail, with new sections used for minimum security inmates, Ulrey said.Read more.
