TROY, NY - The city Republicans on the Rensselaer County Legislature want the state to review its policy allowing one-day furloughs from prison after an inmate, who was on temporary release, shot a city resident. "This is a disturbing incident that unfortunately ended with the attempted murder of a Troy woman. There needs to be a check of state policy to help ensure this does not happen again," Majority Leader Robert Mirch said Thursday in a statement. Read more.
