Corrections Department says new prison needed in Washington
By KXLY
Published: 03/08/2004

The number of prisoners that Washington pays to house in other state prisons could grow to more than one-thousand by the middle of next year.
The state now pays 72 dollars per day per inmate to house 240 prisoners in Nevada.
The state Corrections Department wants to slow the trend by building a new prison for 768 inmates in Franklin County.
But the Legislature hasn't approved the money -- 138 million dollars.
