SOUTH BERWICK, ME - A new state law restricting convicted sex offenders from having contact with children in protected zones is a useful "piece" of the solution for a difficult problem, said Police Chief Dana Lajoie. The bill, LD 1491, was signed into law June 21 and will take effect Sept. 20. Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham, announced its passage and said, "This is a very important piece of legislation for Maine communities."Read more.
