CARLSBAD, NM - In 1992, Todd Banister was out of a job, and if someone had asked what he might be doing 15 years down the road, the answer would certainly not have been correctional health care. But early this month, Banister, a nurse and nursing supervisor at the Eddy County Detention Center, learned that he had earned his professional certification in the field of correctional health care, joining nearly 2,000 correctional health care professionals nationwide who have earned that distinction.
