| Fed report says bigger jail needed |

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI - A recent report from the National Institute of Corrections concluded what many in the county believed - Livingston County needs a bigger jail. Two consultants from the NIC, which is part of the federal Justice Department, visited the county in June and interviewed dozens of people, including judges, police and county commissioners. The institute recommended that the county form a "criminal justice coordinating council" to oversee the entire justice system in the county.
