| Public to get say on Dakota County jail |

DAKOTA CITY, IA - After some discussion and a show of reluctance by several commissioners Monday, the Dakota County Board of Commissioners set 7 p.m. July 30 for a public hearing on an administrative model for the new jail. The primary options are to let the board of commissioners run it, convened as a new board of corrections, or to leave it as it is now, run by the county Sheriff's Office. The meeting, to be held in Dakota City's City Hall if it's available, will be a reconvening of the commissioners' regular meeting that day because placing a legal notice for a separate public hearing would have delayed it further.
