| New program could alleviate jail overcrowding |

BAY MINETTE, AL - The Baldwin County Commission is expected to vote this week on creating a director's job for a program that officials say could change the face of corrections here and unclog an overcrowded jail. That's one of the first official steps toward implementing a countywide community corrections program that is expected to cost about $500,000, according to Baldwin County Administrator Michael Thompson. Should the commission vote at a meeting Thursday to hire a director for the program, they would then begin advertising the job, Thompson said. Read more.
