A justice of the peace who was videotaped using a racial slur and profanity while arraigning inmates resigned and agreed to never again serve as a judge in Texas, officials said. Under the agreement announced last Wednesday, the State Commission on Judicial Conduct dropped disciplinary action against Matt Zepeda of Brazoria County, south of Houston. Zepeda did not admit any wrongdoing. The commission had been investigating Zepeda since a videotape surfaced in 2002 showing the judge cursing one inmate and using a racial slur toward another at the Pearland jail. |
