| New prosecution unit targets gangs |

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Montgomery County officials announced yesterday the creation of Maryland's first gang prosecution unit, designed to curtail what officials say is a growing problem. Under the new system, five assistant state's attorneys will be alerted as soon as a gang member is arrested, giving prosecutors more time and flexibility in preparing cases for trial, Montgomery State's Attorney John J.
