| Cancelled crews impact road work |

ESCANABA, IL — The Delta County Road Commission took another hit to its budget Monday night. Roger VanDrese, DCRC managing director, told the DCRC board he received a phone call last week from an official at Camp Manistique notifying him work crews from the prison would be cancelled within 30 days. “Crews from Manistique saved our locals a lot of dollars on brushing throughout the county,” VanDrese said. “It looks like within 30 days they’ll be cancelled out.” The Michigan Department of Corrections announced July 17 it planned to close Camp Manistique, a minimum-security work camp, and suspend a majority of its public works crews.
