CONCORD, NH - The State Employees Association yesterday asked a state labor board to dismiss a request from prison employees to join a new union. The state labor board is not expected to respond for at least several days. In early July, the New England Police Benevolent Association filed two petitions with the state Public Employee Relations Labor Board seeking to take over union representation for the prison's corrections officers and supervisors. The patrolman's association, based in Lowell, Mass., said it had the support of at least 30 percent of the prison staff and supervisors, as is required to file a petition. Read more.
