MARTINSVILLE, VA - Recent action by the Patrick County Board of Supervisors has sparked renewed discussion of building a regional jail that would be big enough to alleviate crowded conditions in Patrick County, Henry County and Martinsville. At their June meeting, the Patrick supervisors voted to take an option on 20 acres in Patrick Springs for a possible site for a new jail. The supervisors secured a six-month, $13,750 option, with the ability to extend the option by six months for the same price and purchase the property for $275,000. Read more.
