| Raid produces alleged heroin destined for jail |

A quantity of what police say is heroin seized in a raid in Waterville, Maine, late last Monday was not destined for the streets of central Maine, police said last Tuesday. They say that the 40 to 50 grams of what could be heroin was headed for the Maine State Prison in Warren, where it could sell for as much as $50,000. If it is heroin, its worth before that would be $20,000. Waterville police Detective John Gould said the substance was in powdered form and packaged in small balloons. Tarlicia Lee Aldrich, 23, of 18 Spruce St., was arrested in a raid last Monday night, when police conducted a search warrant and found the material, Gould said. She is charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin, a Class A crime punishable by up to 25 years in prison Levar Avery Green, 26, of Benton and Emmanuel "Manny" Reynolds, 23, of Winslow were arrested and charged with violating the terms of their probation from previous offenses. Both men could be charged additionally once the Attorney General's Office reviews the case. Gould, along with Lt. Jeffrey Trafton of the state police, said the raid was conducted by agents of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of Corrections, state police and Waterville police. Officials said additional arrests may be made as the investigation continues. |
