Women offenders at health risk

WASHINGTON, DC - Health problems generally afflict incarcerated women at higher rates than the rest of the population, but correctional facilities provide an optimal forum to potentially improve inmates' health and stop cycles of destructive behavior, some experts say.
The female inmate demographic profile points to a host of medical problems, said Harold Pollack, an associate professor at the School of Social Services Administration at the University of Chicago. Read more.
