DES MOINES, IA - Jail officials have denied a Des Moines, Iowa, woman’s request to be locked up so she can force herself to quit smoking. Jodi Perkins, a 23-year smoker, said none of the traditional quitting means, including nicotine gum, patches and other medical techniques, worked for her and the Polk County Jail seemed like the only place she could escape from cigarettes, KCCI-TV, Des Moines, reported Monday.Read more.
