| CO hurt in off duty shooting |

NEWARK, NJ - A state corrections officer was wounded and another man shot to death in Newark Tuesday night after the man brandished a gun at the off-duty officer, authorities said. The shootings took place about 9:30 p.m. after the unidentified man approached the officer, who was seated on a porch stoop on Grand Avenue, Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy said during a brief press conference at the scene.
