A Mobile County (Ala.) woman who escaped from a Birmingham work release facility has been captured after more than four months on the run, authorities said.
Melisa Ann Trotter, 27, of Chunchula was being held last Monday in Mobile County Metro Jail. Trotter, who escaped Oct. 19, was arrested a day before.
Officials said she was charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice for giving a false name.
Alabama Department of Corrections spokesman Brian Corbett said Trotter apparently walked away from the department's Birmingham facility.
Trotter was convicted of first-degree theft of property and forgery in Mobile in March 2003, Corbett said.
Her earliest release date would have been March 26, he said.
