| Drug court gets state aid |

MISSOURI - A state grant will fund a new Jackson County court pilot program intended to reduce crime by helping nonviolent offenders return successfully to society, officials announced Monday. The program is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Corrections and the county drug court, which will help supervise offenders released after about four months of prison drug treatment. Jackson County, among the first courts nationwide to start a drug court about 15 years ago, is expanding it to cover people released from prison.
