Panel plans first meeting

OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON - The Department of Corrections' Work Release Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting to department determine which counties and groups of counties have unmet needs for work release facilities. Legislation passed this year requires DOC to make substantial efforts to equitably distribute new work releases and other community- based corrections facilities.

During the next decade, DOC plans to double its current work release capacity of 670 beds. The existing beds are located in 15 facilities in Yakima, King, Spokane, Whatcom, Thurston, Cowlitz, Pierce, Kitsap, Clark and Benton counties. Read more.
