NEW ZEALAND - Corrections is addressing the illicit use of cellphones in New Zealand's prisons, signing an agreement with Vodafone and Telecom after what it describes as a successful technical trial. "With the technical trials completed, and the MoU (memorandum of understanding) agreement in place, work can now begin to apply the most effective technologies to combat unauthorised cellphone use in each prison site in New Zealand," Telecom group technology officer Greg Patchell and Vodafone corporate affairs general manager Tom Chignell jointly announced today.
