| Detention center's medical costs soar |

CARLSBAD, NM - The tab for 13 inmates needing medical and dental care at the Eddy Detention Center last month came in at over $18,000 and still counting, detention officials said. Warden D.P. Lyons told county leaders jail overcrowding and an unhealthy inmate population is the root of the high medical costs, which the county has no option but to pay.
